Anonymous asked: Have you heard of the Spanish Commander Juan Francisco de la Bodega y Quadra? He was part of the Nookta Sound (Crisis) and worked with Captain George Vancouver. Both named the island after each other. Later on it became just Vancovuer Island and Quadra Island, with Quadra street, and Quadra neighbour hood. We have a huge Latino community as most high schools teach Spanish here. Hope that helps.
Huh, thanks for this! I had no idea. I’m not actually from Vancouver, nor have I ever spent any real time there other than occasional visits so I know very little about the communities there other than what I’ve heard from others.
