Disclaimers

I always see these disclaimers on YouTube videos of TV shows that say things like, “I DO NOT OWN THIS CONTENT, HOARDERS AND HONEY BOO BOO ARE THE PROPERTY OF TLC” or something, and I’m aways asking… is this necessary? I mean does anyone really believe you own it? Do we believe the TV producers care when looking for uploaded content? Like they’re surfing along YouTube, find your upload of Hoarders and go, “OH MY GOD. Copyright infringement! I’m going to issue a takedown notice right this goddamn— oh wait, they remembered the disclaimer. That’s ok then.”

I’d love to see people start putting disclaimers up that say, “I own everything. This episode, the people involved, the furniture, the brand placement. Everything. It’s mine. Not yours, mine. If I find one other upload of this TV show I will sue your ass three ways from Sunday.”
